Meet Rev. Michael Johnson
Hi and thank you for visiting PCBM. Here is a summary of my background.
At the age of seventeen, I accepted Christ as my Lord and savior. That experience sent me across the Atlantic Ocean five years later as a missionary. I am an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, called to the offices of Prophet, Pastor and Teacher. I am an Ordained Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I have a strong administrative gift and I am a servant-thought leader. Prayer and Intercession plays a key role in my daily life. My calling and ministry are confirmed by the gifts of the Holy Ghost manifesting as the Spirit wills.
I have had my ups, my downs, and dark seasons over the years. Through crying out to God, Jesus Christ opened the scriptures to me, giving me revealed knowledge and understanding helping me to stand strong. Going through and coming out of my own struggles has given me a heart of compassion for everyone. No matter what YOUR struggle may be Christ is willing and able to set you free.
Through personal experience I am living authentic proof that Faith in God, Christ Jesus, His Grace, and Power will change your reality.
Born and Raised in Chicago
Raised on the southeast side of Chicago, by United States military veteran parents my upbringing laid a foundation of discipline, a respect for God, country, and state. Growing up attending Progressive Community church on the corner of 48th and Wabash shadowed by the former Robert Taylor Projects gave me a respect and a priceless education in serving others, the community, social justice, and ministerial excellence. Those experiences made me intimately connected with Chicago and the needs in the community.
I am the proud father of two adult young men, and I am very much in love with my wife Tawanna.
With over 20 years of professional ministerial experience, I have served as an Assistant Pastor and Founding Pastor. Living abroad in the United Kingdom. I co-labored with others, establishing churches in the cities of Glasgow and Oxford. These experiences equipped me with the knowledge and skills to build a true kingdom ministry.
Today Jesus Christ has commissioned me to establish Pneuma Christian Bible Ministries in the city of Chicago; a well of fresh living water for all to be made whole by the power of the Holy Spirit and the taught word of God.
Education
- I am a graduate of Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, Ok. earning a diploma in theology with an emphasis in biblical teaching.
- I am also a graduate of Oral Roberts University with a B.A. Degree in Organizational Effectiveness and Interpersonal Communications. My marketplace career has been in B2B Sales and Sales Management working for top U.S. Fortune 500 Companies: CANON, XEROX, RICOH-USA and Reynolds American.
- As a teenager I graduated from CVS High School, now known as Chicago Vocational Career Academy.
Meet Tawanna Johnson
For over 20 years it has been my passion to help others understand the richness and beauty of God’s written word. I truly have a love for teaching the word of God to lay a thorough foundation of the scriptures into the hearts of believers. I find tremendous joy in looking up definitions of words to present a clearer picture of God’s love story and instruction manual to his people.
I’ve studied and taken classes at Gilbert Bible College and the New York School of the Bible to learn how to mine the treasures of God’s word, to understand it more clearly, and teach it to others. God gave me a love for the body of Christ from a young age. My grandmother would take me to church on Sundays in our small town of Urbana, IL and it was there that my journey began. Growing up in the church I’ve had the privilege to be a part of various ministries such as the Missionary Board, the Choir, the Communion Team, Intercessory Prayer Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and being a Sunday School Teacher. In my later adult years, I focused more on teaching solely and was blessed to host and lead a Small Group Bible study that met in my apartment. What a joy that was! God’s word never gets old, it just gets better and better.
I am blessed to be the wife of Reverend Michael Johnson and to work by his side in ministry. Outside of the church, I work in the accounting field as a Billing Specialist. Numbers have always made sense to me. In my spare time I enjoy exploring parks, taking long walks, and watching Christmas movies all year round. I believe Jesus is the reason in Every season!!
